Legal Counsel - Environment & Planning

The purpose of the Legal Counsel – Environment and Planning is to assist and support the Senior Legal Counsel and the Safety, Environment and Quality (SEQ) team with environmental, planning and development legal and regulatory matters in New South Wales and Victoria.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the Senior Legal Counsel and the SEQ team on a range of environmental, planning and development legal and regulatory compliance matters in New South Wales and Victoria.
  • Advise and assist SEQ team with the management of environmental planning licenses and approvals including applications, renewals, audits, returns etc, working closely with the Group Environmental Manager and Environmental Officers.
  • Advise on environmental and planning issues in various services, supply and commercial contractual documentation.
  • Provide support and advice to the Development and Property and Infrastructure teams regarding various building and development projects.
  • Being an integral part of a collaborative and high-performing team.
  • Carry out all duties in line with Bingo’s policies, procedures and processes as amended from time to time

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • At least 3 years’ PQE.
  • Practising at a well-recognised private practice law firm or in-house with experience in environmental and planning matters.
  • Ability to work closely with regulators whilst managing the company’s interests.
  • Strong drafting skills, attention to detail and technical ability. 
  • Organised, with proven time management and initiative.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to manage a busy caseload.
  • Analytical mind and excellent problem-solving skills, able to interpret complex regulatory policy and establish solutions for its implementation
